Some car companies are cutting back on pickup trucks and SUV's. Now they are ramping up production on economy cars and smaller downsized SUV's. The larger vehicles have seen their sales figures drop since the increase in gas prices.

Used compact cars are white hot right now. At car auctions, dealers are paying more for these economy cars. Therefore expect to pay a premium on most fuel efficient cars. As long as the price of gasoline stays high, so will the price on small high MPG cars.

If you're a two or more car family, now may be a good time to trade in that gas guzzling truck or SUV and purchase a fuel efficient car for work or errands.
